A Prayer for Our Children

Lord, we ask You, please, for our children. Guard their hearts. Watch over them as they play. Keep their minds and eyes and hearts and bodies pure. Don’t let any hurt or harm come to them. Give them a hunger for You, Lord, that drives them to read the Bible; and each time they do, meet them in powerful ways. Save them, Jesus, and draw them all the closer to Yourself day by day. Give them courage to believe what You say is truth, and to let You conquer over every lie the enemy is trying to build in their hearts right now. Speak to them constantly, telling them how much You love them. Lead them in Your right paths, and fulfill in them every good purpose You created them for. Prepare for them even now the godly husband or wife they will marry. Watch over that child’s heart and mind and body, as well, God. Lead those families into strong, Bible-believing churches filled with love and with Your Spirit’s empowering to overcome every trial. Give our children courage to stand strong against the waves of culture and politics that want to sway them off-course. Raise them up to be mighty warriors for Christ, a chosen generation, leading out in love, peace, joy, and hope, drawing millions to You by Your light shining brightly through them in the darkness. And raise up those who will be leaders in all areas of life, opening doors for many to know Christ. Yes, Lord, please wrap our children in Your arms and never let them go. No matter how far they stray from You, bring them back home. Don’t let even one of them be lost. But rather, use our children to bring all the more lost sheep into Your fold. In Your name. Amen.

A Third of Us – Pray As a Family

Today, May 23, is the International Day for the Unreached. Did you know that 1/3 of the world has been cut off from hearing about Christ? Read more here.

My friend, Alicia Bennett, “mobilizermom” on Instagram and Facebook, suggested this fun activity to help our kids understand the seriousness of this heavy darkness that covers a large section of the world:

“Go into a room without any windows and close the door and turn off the lights. It’s as dark as dark can be. You can feel around, using your senses to try to make sense of everything around you.

“This is what an unreached people group is like. Without light, they are trying to make sense of their lives, circumstances around them, world events, etc., with the God-given senses that they have. But without light, it is hard. They decide what is up and what is down. They decide how to live and eat and move around. They come up with rules to live by but they really cannot see the whole picture, because it is too dark.

🔦 “Give one person in that dark room a lantern. At once, that one person can see and can see well: they see the Truth. They discover that up wasn’t exactly what they thought and down is different. They realize that what they thought was the best way to live and eat and move maybe isn’t ideal now that the light has shown and they can actually see correctly. As they take their light to others in that place, they can show them the Truth.

“The trouble is: someone has to bring the lantern in. They can’t create a lantern in the dark. They need someone to go and give them one. Only then can they see the Truth.

“The unreached have no lantern.
No one has given them one yet.
1/3 of the world still does not have that lantern.”

Here are some things you can do to make a difference:

  1. With a marker, draw the symbol of three lines on your hand. Whenever someone asks you what it’s for, tell them a third of the world has never heard the name of Jesus.
  2. Share about this need on social media using the hashtag #AThirdOfUs. You’re welcome to use my (Mikaela Vincent‘s) post on Facebook, Instagram, and MeWe, or at my PrayerWall website.
  3. Pray for the unreached. Here are some ways:

#6 Let Jesus Take the Lead

Galatians 5:22-25; Hebrews 10:14; John 14:1-3

If you’ve been dancing to Satan’s tune in certain areas of your life since childhood, you may need to learn some new steps. And unlearning old habits isn’t easy.

But once you get the hang of grabbing Jesus’ hand and letting Him take the lead, it’s all a glorious Cinderella story from here on out!

He calls you beautiful, perfect, because that is who you are in Him. Song of Songs 4:7, Hebrews 10:14. If you’re willing, He will trample your old lie slave master, take you in His arms, and dance you all the way to that castle He’s prepared for you in glory. John 14:1-3, Revelation 7:15-17.

It’s not a fairy tale. This love beyond measure is what you were created for. And as perfect as it will be in Heaven, His love is no less glorious here on earth.

In fact, this is your time right now to get to know Him as Savior, Healer, Rescuer, Protector, and all His beautiful names, because once you get to Heaven, there will be no more battles, illness, or evil for Him to rescue you from.

So, grab His hand, let Him take the lead, and waltz into oneness with Him.

This is where Heaven meets earth. Right now in your trying life and difficult circumstances. Right here in His loving, powerful arms.

Practice with Purpose

Close your eyes. Ask the Lord to show you a picture of you dancing with Him through the circumstances you’re in right now. Are there new steps you need to learn? Old ones you need to stop doing? Ask him. Let Him draw you near and teach you step by step how to go through life and trials as one with Him.

For discussion in the comments:

  • What habits are you hanging onto, trying to balance being a Christian, but retaining those old ways you don’t want to give up?
  • What “tune” have you been “dancing” to lately?
  • Are there any “old moves” you need to replace with new ones?
  • What will it take for you to step into Jesus’ arms, and let Him take the lead in every area of your life, so you can have your joy back?
  • What are you doing to help your children fall in love with the Lord, so they will let Him take the lead?
  • To help our children grab onto Christ and hold tightly to Him the rest of their lives, we must model for them what it looks like to let go. What do you need to let go of this week?
  • What has taken higher priority in your life than Christ?
  • What feelings, emotions, people, etc., have you let control you instead of the Holy Spirit?

Pray for Global Awakening April 13-May 12, 2021

Including your children in special prayer events is an exciting way to help them gain an awareness of global lostness and persecution of Christians.

Last year, Christians gathered together in prayer for Global Awakening on May 5. This year, during the special prayer emphasis for the Muslims April 13-May 12, we are expanding out also to fast and pray 30 days for Global Awakening.

Let’s raise a mighty chorus of prayers before the throne of God, asking Him to open every heart all across the world to see His glory.

To join in the 30 days of prayer, sign up at the foot of the Prayer Wall, so the daily prayer points will come to your inbox. For some exciting ideas on how you and your family can get involved visit my blog.

Let’s band together in prayer and build a Prayer Wall to block the enemy’s plans, and bring forth God’s purposes in this nation and in the world. “For we are not contending against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:1 rsv

Pray for the USA

Lord, we need You. Desperately.
Break our hearts for what breaks Yours.
Awaken us.
Heal us.
Save us.
Set us free.
Make LOVE our one cause we fight for.
Forgive us, Lord, for we have sinned greatly
against You and against one another.
We have judged and slandered
those who judge and slander.
We have ranted against prejudice,
while prejudice reigns in our own hearts.
We have each in our own way
sought to kill, steal, and destroy.
We are a people in need of a Savior.
A people in need of True Love.
Tear down the lies that cause dissension,
and replace them with truth and grace.
Put an end to hatred and murder,
and restore to us understanding and life.
For those who have sinned,
and those we have sinned against,
come and meet us in our dark places,
and heal us.
For those who have not understood,
give us now understanding.
For those who have not cared,
let us now truly care.
For those who have lived in fear,
give us now faith.
For those who have stood for love,
give us now favor.
When we cry out to You, O God, hear us,
and answer us with Your forgiveness and salvation.
Open the ears of those who have been closed.
Soften the hearts of those who have been hardened.
Open the eyes of those who have been blind.
Heal those who have been wounded.
Let us see You as You truly are,
the wounds on your brow, Your hands, Your feet.
Let us see Your loving arms spread wide in welcome,
and choose at last to surrender to Your embrace.
Give us the courage to hate what we have become,
and surrender to You.
For You alone have the power
to transform us, heal us, and set us free.
Save us now, O Lord, like only You can.
We need You.
Anoint Your church to speak Your words
of hope, salvation, and healing to every heart.
Help us fight for the things that matter,
to make this nation a safe place for our children,
and their children, and generations yet to come.
Awaken us now, O Lord, to You.
For You are the LOVE we long for.

In Your name we pray. Amen.
